Your data and privacy
How Deni AI uses your chats, what it stores, and how to download or delete your data.
This page summarizes how Deni AI handles your chats and other data, and how to download or delete it. The Privacy Policy has the full details.
Don't paste secrets into chat
Don't put passwords, API keys, or other secrets into chat. Your messages are sent to an AI model provider to generate a response.
Are my chats used to train models?
No. Deni AI doesn't use your conversations to train its own models.
Your account, usage, billing, and the content you send may still be processed to run the service, keep accounts secure, and prevent abuse. Deni AI also doesn't use your conversations to target ads.
Who processes your messages
When you send a message, the prompt, the conversation context, and any attached files go to the provider of the model you chose. Depending on the model, that may be OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Groq, xAI, OpenRouter, or another router or gateway used to deliver that model.
- If you turn on web search, search queries and related context may be sent to a search provider such as Exa.
- Model providers process your content to generate the response, and may have their own privacy policies and retention practices.
What Deni AI stores
| Data | Examples |
|---|---|
| Account | Name, email address, avatar, sign-in methods |
| Content you send | Prompts, chat messages, uploaded files and images, saved memories, custom instructions, project descriptions and instructions |
| Usage and devices | IP address, browser, timestamps, feature usage, error logs, security activity |
| Teams | Team name, members, roles, invitations, audit log |
| Billing | Plan status and subscription IDs. Card details are handled by Stripe, not stored by Deni AI. |
Data is kept while your account is active and as needed to run the service. Guest accounts may be removed sooner.
In a team, members may see shared content, such as team projects, depending on their roles. To manage what Deni AI remembers about you, see Memory and projects.
Delete a chat
- In the sidebar, open the ⋯ menu next to the chat.
- Select Delete.
The chat is deleted right away, without a confirmation step, and its attached files are deleted with it.
Download your data
You can download a JSON copy of your profile, chats, memories, projects, and security activity. Secrets such as passwords and API keys aren't included.
- Open Account (also in your account menu in the sidebar).
- Under Download your data, select Export JSON.
- When the export is ready, select Download.
Preparing an export can take a few minutes. You can leave the page while it runs. The finished export is available for 7 days. Download it before the date shown, or select Export again later.
You can import this file into another Deni AI account. See Import your ChatGPT and Claude conversations.
Delete your account
Deleting your account permanently removes it and all associated data. This can't be undone. If you want to keep anything, download your data first.
- Open Account › Security.
- Under Danger zone, select Delete account.
- If you sign in with a password, enter it. Then confirm.
You can't delete your account yet in these cases:
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| You have an active subscription | Cancel it first in Settings › Billing. |
| Your subscription is ending | Wait until it ends, or select Delete now without a refund. Your account isn't deleted automatically when the subscription ends. |
| You have pending usage or unpaid invoices | Wait for billing to finish and settle any balance. |
| You own a team | Delete the team or transfer ownership to another member first. See Get started with Pro for Teams. |
Some records may be kept after deletion when needed for legal, billing, security, or fraud-prevention reasons. You can also ask for deletion by emailing [email protected] from the address on your account.
Other privacy requests
Send questions and requests for access, correction, export, or deletion to [email protected].
